It’s (Pet) Election Season in Gulfport, Florida!

Everyone knows that Gulfport has the best pets. Our beloved critters not only brighten our lives, but can also represent the things we love about our city – friendliness, acceptance, a flair for the creative, and a love of beach life.
To honor our amazing animals, and to help raise money for a good cause, Gulfport Arts and Heritage sponsors a yearly Pet Mayor election. Community members (in Gulfport and beyond) may to vote for their favorite cat-didate, candi-dog, or nominee from any pet species for the cost of $1 per vote. You may vote as many times as you like, as often as you like. Please note that we have extended our deadline for the election: voting will now end at 11:59pm on February 21, 2024.
The pet with the most votes wins the election, and will be honored at a very informal “wagging in” ceremony at Gulfport Get Rescued on February 24, 2024.
All proceeds will go to benefit Gulfport Arts & Heritage and Friends of Strays Animal Shelter, St. Petersburg’s oldest no-kill shelter. Read more about Friends of Strays’ work here.
If you have any questions about nominations or issues using this form, please feel free to contact Amanda Hagood at amanda@gulfporthistoricalsociety.org.
